Welcome to JUKE
A creative journal with dirt in the corners.
Hi! Welcome to Juke. I’m Tonya Audyn Morton and I’m producing this page with three of my collaborators and friends—Damon Falke, Ned Mudd and Paul Vlachos. It’s a new experimental outlet for our work and random interests. (You’ll find that we have a lot of random interests.) Collectively, we are writers, artists, musicians, photographers and videographers. We have worked together on other projects, and now we've chosen to set up shop on Substack in search of a new audience and a community of other creative souls.
We’re test driving a twice-a-week posting schedule, so hit the “Subscribe now” button to keep up with our work. It’s free! If you’d like to support Juke, please consider a paid subscription. Most of the posts will be public for now, but over time we’ll introduce member-only posts and features exclusively for our paying subscribers.
We are looking for collaborators, so if you think you’d be a good fit for Juke, please consider submitting your own work.
Juke is looking for unpublished…
Send short pieces/art/music via email to email@example.com. For longer pieces (over 1500 words) send a one-paragraph description/explanation. We’ll try to respond in a normal human timeframe.
Contributors are paid, albeit poorly, from the pool of subscription funds. You’ll retain all the rights to your own work, and we won’t sell your soul to anybody without telling you first.
But before you submit! Make sure your submissions are well-edited and out of the ordinary—ideally without being precious or impenetrable. Write for an adult, non-academic audience.
No bullshit and, please, no advertising—unless it’s ironic advertising.
If you want to lie, do it well. The truth is also acceptable. But we can’t afford any attorneys, so change the names if you’re telling some really juicy truths.
Basically, don’t take stuff too seriously. But don’t NOT take it seriously either. Does that make sense?
Welcome to Juke. We’re happy to have you here.
We hope you’re enjoying JUKE. Subscribe for free to receive new posts by email. For special member-only posts and benefits, please consider supporting our writers with a monthly or yearly paid subscription.
